Rural housewife Mrs. Hamilton has racist tendencies masquerading as "traditional values". Her neighbor, 18-year-old Jamal Jackson, sets her straight, later submitting a poetry assignment to his civics class in her honor:
"Amidst the land of stars and bars,
Devoted housewife had a dream,
Of justice, peace, and liberty,
But circumstances went too far,
Ersatz ideals are doused in cream."
Queried about his words Jamal reveals that he won over Mrs. Hamilton with nothing more than calm conversation and a cream-filled treat. "Diplomacy goes a long way." the young man attests. "I look forward to many more teatime discussions with both my new friend Mrs. Hamilton and the other housewives of Parker City."
